  1. Devarim 18:1

    . . . .

And since the prieststhe Levites, who are the rest of the tribe of Levishall have no portion nor inheritance with the house of Israel, it is from the offerings of God and from His inheritance that they shall eat.

  2. Devarim 18:2

    . .

And an inheritance shall not be his among his brothers, for the prescribed dues of God are his inheritance, as He has decreed for him.

  3. Devarim 18:3

    . . .

And this is what shall be the customary due of the priests from the people: from whoever slaughters any slaughterwhether of cattle or of flocksthey shall give them the foreleg, and the two jaws, and the stomach.

  4. Devarim 18:4

    .

The first of your grain, your juice, and your oil, and the first of the shearing of your flockyou shall give him.

  5. Devarim 18:5

    . .

For God your Lord has chosen him from all your tribes, to stand and to serve in the name of Godhe and his sons for the length of time.

  6. Devarim 18:6

    . . . .

And when any Levite makes pilgrimage from some of your settlements belonging to all the house of Israel, in which he is residing, he may enter at whatever time he wishes, to the place which God shall choose.

  7. Devarim 18:7

    . .

And he shall serve in the name of God his Lord, like all his Levite brothers who stand there before God.

  8. Devarim 18:8

    .

And they shall share equal portionssave for what the forefathers established from the rotations.

  9. Devarim 18:9

    . . .

And know that you are entering the land which God your Lord is giving you: do not learn to do after the manner of the abominations of those nations.

  10. Devarim 18:10

    . . .

Let there not be found among you one who burns his son or his daughter in the fire, nor a diviner of divinations, nor one who takes omens, nor one who reads signs, nor a sorcerer,

  11. Devarim 18:11

    . .

nor a reciter of incantations, nor one who consults a conjurer or a soothsayer, nor one who seeks answers from the dead.

  12. Devarim 18:12

    . .

For God abhors all who do these abominations, and it is on account of them that He is cutting them off from before you.

  13. Devarim 18:13

But be simple toward God your Lord.

  14. Devarim 18:14

    . . .

For these nations whom you are to dispossessit is to those who take omens and to diviners that they listen; but as for you, God your Lord has not permitted you anything like that.

  15. Devarim 18:15

    . .

Rather, any prophet from among you, from some of your brothers, like meGod your Lord shall appoint him for you; from him you shall accept.

  16. Devarim 18:16

    . . . ]] ]]

In accordance with all that you asked of God your Lord at Mount Horeb, on the day of the assembly, when you said: 'I will no longer hear the voice of God my Lord, nor will I see this great fire, lest I die.'

  17. Devarim 18:17

    .

And God said to me: 'They have done well in all that they have said.'

  18. Devarim 18:18

    . . . .

'And whatever prophet I appoint for them, from some of their brothers like youI shall teach him My word, and he shall address them with all that I command him.'

  19. Devarim 18:19

    . .

'And whatever person does not accept My word which he conveys on My behalfI shall call him to account.'

  20. Devarim 18:20

    . . . .

'But whatever false prophet has been brazen and has fabricated a saying on My behalfwhat I have not commanded him to sayand whoever prophesies in the name of other objects of worship: that false prophet shall be put to death.'

  21. Devarim 18:21

    . .

And if you say to yourself: 'How shall we know the saying which God has not spoken?'

  22. Devarim 18:22

    . . . .

Then: that which the false prophet speaks in the name of God, if that saying neither comes to pass nor proves necessaryit is the saying which God has not spoken; the false prophet has said it out of brazenness. Do not be wary of him.
