- Bamidbar 4:1
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶל-אַהֲרֹן לֵאמֹר
Then God spoke to Moses and Aaron directly.
- Bamidbar 4:2
נָשֹׂא אֶת-רֹאשׁ בְּנֵי קְהָת מִתּוֹךְ בְּנֵי לֵוִי--לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם
. .
Raise up the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, by their clans and their fathers' houses.
- Bamidbar 4:3
מִבֶּן שְׁלֹשִׁים שָׁנָה וָמַעְלָה וְעַד בֶּן-חֲמִשִּׁים שָׁנָה--כָּל-בָּא לַצָּבָא לַעֲשׂוֹת מְלָאכָה בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד
. . .
From thirty years of age and upward, up to fifty years of age — every one who enters the host, to perform a craft in the tent of the assembly.

זֹאת עֲבֹדַת בְּנֵי-קְהָת בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד--קֹדֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁים

This is the service of the sons of Kohath in the tent of the assembly: the choicest of the holy things.
- Bamidbar 4:5
וּבָא אַהֲרֹן וּבָנָיו בִּנְסֹעַ הַמַּחֲנֶה וְהוֹרִדוּ אֵת פָּרֹכֶת הַמָּסָךְ וְכִסּוּ-בָהּ--אֵת אֲרֹן הָעֵדֻת
. .
And Aaron and his sons shall come in at the setting out of the camp, and they shall take down the concealing veil, and cover with it the ark of the testimony.

וְנָתְנוּ עָלָיו כְּסוּי עוֹר תַּחַשׁ וּפָרְשׂוּ בֶגֶד-כְּלִיל תְּכֵלֶת מִלְמָעְלָה וְשָׂמוּ בַּדָּיו

And they shall place upon it a covering of darash-hides, and spread a cloth wholly of blue over it, and fit its poles.

וְעַל שֻׁלְחַן הַפָּנִים יִפְרְשׂוּ בֶּגֶד תְּכֵלֶת וְנָתְנוּ עָלָיו אֶת-הַקְּעָרֹת וְאֶת-הַכַּפֹּת וְאֶת-הַמְּנַקִּיֹּת וְאֵת קְשׂוֹת הַנָּסֶךְ וְלֶחֶם הַתָּמִיד עָלָיו יִהְיֶה

And upon the table of the Presence they shall spread a cloth of blue, and place upon it the dishes and the drawers and the spoons and the flagons for the libation, and the perpetual bread shall be upon it.

וּפָרְשׂוּ עֲלֵיהֶם בֶּגֶד תּוֹלַעַת שָׁנִי וְכִסּוּ אֹתוֹ בְּמִכְסֵה עוֹר תָּחַשׁ וְשָׂמוּ אֶת-בַּדָּיו

And they shall spread over them a cloth dyed scarlet, and cover it with a covering of darash-hides, and fit its poles.

And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover with it the lampstand of light and its lamps, and its tongs and its fire-pans, and all the vessels of its oil with which they tend it.

And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of darash-hides, and fit its poles.

And they shall take all the vessels of service with which they serve in the sanctuary, and place them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of darash-hides, and set them upon the carrying-pole.

וְדִשְּׁנוּ אֶת-הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וּפָרְשׂוּ עָלָיו בֶּגֶד אַרְגָּמָן

And they shall clear the ashes from the altar, and spread upon it a cloth of purple.

וְנָתְנוּ עָלָיו אֶת-כָּל-כֵּלָיו אֲשֶׁר יְשָׁרְתוּ עָלָיו בָּהֶם אֶת-הַמַּחְתֹּת אֶת-הַמִּזְלָגֹת וְאֶת-הַיָּעִים וְאֶת-הַמִּזְרָקֹת--כֹּל כְּלֵי הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וּפָרְשׂוּ עָלָיו כְּסוּי עוֹר תַּחַשׁ--וְשָׂמוּ בַדָּיו
. . . .
And they shall place upon it all its vessels with which they serve upon it — the fire-pans and the flesh-hooks and the shovels and the basins — and the rest of the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread over it a covering of darash-hides, and fit its carrying-poles.

וְכִלָּה אַהֲרֹן-וּבָנָיו לְכַסֹּת אֶת-הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְאֶת-כָּל-כְּלֵי הַקֹּדֶשׁ בִּנְסֹעַ הַמַּחֲנֶה וְאַחֲרֵי-כֵן יָבֹאוּ בְנֵי-קְהָת לָשֵׂאת וְלֹא-יִגְּעוּ אֶל-הַקֹּדֶשׁ וָמֵתוּ אֵלֶּה מַשָּׂא בְנֵי-קְהָת בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד

And when Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all its vessels at the setting out of the camp, then after that those of them who are counted — the sons of Kohath — shall come in and carry them; but they shall not approach the holy things, lest they be destroyed. This is the description of the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tent of the assembly.

וּפְקֻדַּת אֶלְעָזָר בֶּן-אַהֲרֹן הַכֹּהֵן שֶׁמֶן הַמָּאוֹר וּקְטֹרֶת הַסַּמִּים וּמִנְחַת הַתָּמִיד וְשֶׁמֶן הַמִּשְׁחָה פְּקֻדַּת כָּל-הַמִּשְׁכָּן וְכָל-אֲשֶׁר-בּוֹ בְּקֹדֶשׁ וּבְכֵלָיו
. . . .
And the charge of Eleazar son of Aaron the priest is the oil of the light, and the incense of resins, and the perpetual grain-offering and the oil of anointing — that is the charge of the tabernacle and all that is in it, of holy things and its vessels.

וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶל-אַהֲרֹן לֵאמֹר

Then God spoke to Moses and Aaron directly.
- Bamidbar 4:18
אַל-תַּכְרִיתוּ אֶת-שֵׁבֶט מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַקְּהָתִי מִתּוֹךְ הַלְוִיִּם
.
Do not cut off the clans of the tribe of Kohath from among the Levites.
- Bamidbar 4:19
וְזֹאת עֲשׂוּ לָהֶם וְחָיוּ וְלֹא יָמֻתוּ בְּגִשְׁתָּם אֶת-קֹדֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁים אַהֲרֹן וּבָנָיו יָבֹאוּ וְשָׂמוּ אוֹתָם אִישׁ אִישׁ עַל-עֲבֹדָתוֹ וְאֶל-מַשָּׂאוֹ
. . . . .
But do this for them as a remedy, so that they may live and not be destroyed by their approaching the choicest of the holy things: Aaron and his sons shall come in and assign them, each group to its service and its burden.

וְלֹא-יָבֹאוּ לִרְאוֹת כְּבַלַּע אֶת-הַקֹּדֶשׁ וָמֵתוּ

And they shall not come in and look at the time of the covering of the holy things, lest they be destroyed.
- Bamidbar 4:21
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר
Then God spoke to Moses directly.
- Bamidbar 4:22
נָשֹׂא אֶת-רֹאשׁ בְּנֵי גֵרְשׁוֹן--גַּם-הֵם לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם
.
Raise up the sum of the sons of Gershon — they too — by their fathers' houses and by their clans.

מִבֶּן שְׁלֹשִׁים שָׁנָה וָמַעְלָה עַד בֶּן-חֲמִשִּׁים שָׁנָה--תִּפְקֹד אוֹתָם כָּל-הַבָּא לִצְבֹא צָבָא לַעֲבֹד עֲבֹדָה בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד
. . .
From thirty years of age and upward, up to fifty years of age, you shall count them — every one who enters the host for service in the tent of the assembly.

זֹאת עֲבֹדַת מִשְׁפְּחֹת הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי--לַעֲבֹד וּלְמַשָּׂא

And this is their service — labor and burden.
- Bamidbar 4:25
וְנָשְׂאוּ אֶת-יְרִיעֹת הַמִּשְׁכָּן וְאֶת-אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד מִכְסֵהוּ וּמִכְסֵה הַתַּחַשׁ אֲשֶׁר-עָלָיו מִלְמָעְלָה וְאֶת-מָסַךְ--פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד
. . .
They shall carry the curtains of the tabernacle and the tent of the assembly, its covering, and the covering of darash-hide that is upon it from above, and the screen of the entrance of the tent of the assembly,
- Bamidbar 4:26
וְאֵת קַלְעֵי הֶחָצֵר וְאֶת-מָסַךְ פֶּתַח שַׁעַר הֶחָצֵר אֲשֶׁר עַל-הַמִּשְׁכָּן וְעַל-הַמִּזְבֵּחַ סָבִיב וְאֵת מֵיתְרֵיהֶם וְאֶת-כָּל-כְּלֵי עֲבֹדָתָם וְאֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר יֵעָשֶׂה לָהֶם וְעָבָדוּ
. . . .
and the hangings of the enclosure and the screen of its entrance, which is around the tabernacle and the altar, and their cords, and the rest of the vessels of its service — and everything that pertains to them, they shall serve.

עַל-פִּי אַהֲרֹן וּבָנָיו תִּהְיֶה כָּל-עֲבֹדַת בְּנֵי הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי לְכָל-מַשָּׂאָם וּלְכֹל עֲבֹדָתָם וּפְקַדְתֶּם עֲלֵהֶם בְּמִשְׁמֶרֶת אֵת כָּל-מַשָּׂאָם
. . . . .
At the word of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of Gershon, both their burden and the rest of their labor; and you shall register upon them in keeping all their burden.

This is the service of the clans of the sons of Gershon in the tent of the assembly, and their charge, under the hand of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.

and the pillars of the enclosure all around, and their bases and their pegs and their cords, and all their vessels, and the rest of their works; and you shall register by name all the vessels of the charge of their burden.
