  1. Shemot 13:1

    וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר

    Then God spoke to Moses, a [full] speaking.

  2. Shemot 13:2

    קַדֶּשׁ-לִי כָל-בְּכוֹר פֶּטֶר כָּל-רֶחֶם בִּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל--בָּאָדָם וּבַבְּהֵמָה לִי הוּא

    . . .

    'Consecrate to Me every firstbornthe first to open every womb among the sons of Israel, of humans and of beasts — they are Mine.'

    וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל-הָעָם זָכוֹר אֶת-הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר יְצָאתֶם מִמִּצְרַיִם מִבֵּית עֲבָדִים כִּי בְּחֹזֶק יָד הוֹצִיא יְהוָה אֶתְכֶם מִזֶּה וְלֹא יֵאָכֵל חָמֵץ

    . . . .

    And Moses said to the people: 'Remember this day on which you went out from Egypt, from the house of bondagefor it was by strength of hand that God brought you out from here; and no leavened bread shall be eaten.

  4. Shemot 13:4

    הַיּוֹם אַתֶּם יֹצְאִים בְּחֹדֶשׁ הָאָבִיב

    .

    Today you are going out, in the month of the roasted grain.'

  5. Shemot 13:5

    וְהָיָה כִי-יְבִיאֲךָ יְהוָה אֶל-אֶרֶץ הַכְּנַעֲנִי וְהַחִתִּי וְהָאֱמֹרִי וְהַחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע לַאֲבֹתֶיךָ לָתֶת לָךְ אֶרֶץ זָבַת חָלָב וּדְבָשׁ וְעָבַדְתָּ אֶת-הָעֲבֹדָה הַזֹּאת בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַזֶּה

    And when God brings you into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusitesas He swore to your fathers that He would give it to youa land flowing with milk and honey, then you shall perform this observance in this month.

  6. Shemot 13:6

    שִׁבְעַת יָמִים תֹּאכַל מַצֹּת וּבַיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי חַג לַיהוָה

    .

    Seven days eat unleavened bread, and the seventh day is a festival to God.

  7. Shemot 13:7

    מַצּוֹת יֵאָכֵל אֵת שִׁבְעַת הַיָּמִים וְלֹא-יֵרָאֶה לְךָ חָמֵץ וְלֹא-יֵרָאֶה לְךָ שְׂאֹר--בְּכָל-גְּבֻלֶךָ

    . . .

    And unleavened bread shall be eaten during these seven days; no leavened bread shall be seen in your possession, nor any leavening agent, in all your territory.

  8. Shemot 13:8

    וְהִגַּדְתָּ לְבִנְךָ בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא לֵאמֹר בַּעֲבוּר זֶה עָשָׂה יְהוָה לִי בְּצֵאתִי מִמִּצְרָיִם

    . . .

    And you shall tell your son on that day, saying: 'This is on account of what God did for me when I went out from Egypt.'

    וְהָיָה לְךָ לְאוֹת עַל-יָדְךָ וּלְזִכָּרוֹן בֵּין עֵינֶיךָ לְמַעַן תִּהְיֶה תּוֹרַת יְהוָה בְּפִיךָ כִּי בְּיָד חֲזָקָה הוֹצִאֲךָ יְהוָה מִמִּצְרָיִם

    . . . .

    And it shall be for you as a sign upon your hand, and as a remembrance between your eyes, so that the law of God may be in your mouthfor it was by a mighty hand that God brought you out from Egypt.

  10. Shemot 13:10

    וְשָׁמַרְתָּ אֶת-הַחֻקָּה הַזֹּאת לְמוֹעֲדָהּ מִיָּמִים יָמִימָה

    And observe this ordinance at its appointed time, from year to year.

  11. Shemot 13:11

    וְהָיָה כִּי-יְבִאֲךָ יְהוָה אֶל-אֶרֶץ הַכְּנַעֲנִי כַּאֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע לְךָ וְלַאֲבֹתֶיךָ וּנְתָנָהּ לָךְ

    And so it shall be when God brings you into the land of the Canaanites, as He swore to you and to your fathers, and gives it to you

  12. Shemot 13:12

    וְהַעֲבַרְתָּ כָל-פֶּטֶר-רֶחֶם לַיהוָה וְכָל-פֶּטֶר שֶׁגֶר בְּהֵמָה אֲשֶׁר יִהְיֶה לְךָ הַזְּכָרִים--לַיהוָה

    .

    set apart every firstborn of the womb for God; and every first issue of the beasts that shall be yours, of the males — for God.

  13. Shemot 13:13

    וְכָל-פֶּטֶר חֲמֹר תִּפְדֶּה בְשֶׂה וְאִם-לֹא תִפְדֶּה וַעֲרַפְתּוֹ וְכֹל בְּכוֹר אָדָם בְּבָנֶיךָ תִּפְדֶּה

    . . .

    And every firstborn of donkeys you shall redeem with a sheep; and if you do not redeem it, then break its neck. And every firstborn male among your sons you shall redeem.

  14. Shemot 13:14

    וְהָיָה כִּי-יִשְׁאָלְךָ בִנְךָ מָחָר--לֵאמֹר מַה-זֹּאת וְאָמַרְתָּ אֵלָיו--בְּחֹזֶק יָד הוֹצִיאָנוּ יְהוָה מִמִּצְרַיִם מִבֵּית עֲבָדִים

    . . . . .

    And when your son asks you tomorrow, saying: 'What is this?'then say to him: 'By strength of hand God brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage.

    וַיְהִי כִּי-הִקְשָׁה פַרְעֹה לְשַׁלְּחֵנוּ וַיַּהֲרֹג יְהוָה כָּל-בְּכוֹר בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם מִבְּכֹר אָדָם וְעַד-בְּכוֹר בְּהֵמָה עַל-כֵּן אֲנִי זֹבֵחַ לַיהוָה כָּל-פֶּטֶר רֶחֶם הַזְּכָרִים וְכָל-בְּכוֹר בָּנַי אֶפְדֶּה

    . . . . .

    For when Pharaoh was stubborn about releasing us, God slew every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of humans to the firstborn of beaststherefore I sacrifice to God every firstborn of the womb from the firstborn of the beasts, and all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.'

    וְהָיָה לְאוֹת עַל-יָדְכָה וּלְטוֹטָפֹת בֵּין עֵינֶיךָ כִּי בְּחֹזֶק יָד הוֹצִיאָנוּ יְהוָה מִמִּצְרָיִם

    And it shall be as a sign upon your hand, and displayed between your eyesfor it was by strength of hand that God brought us out from Egypt.

  17. Shemot 13:17

    וַיְהִי בְּשַׁלַּח פַּרְעֹה אֶת-הָעָם וְלֹא-נָחָם אֱלֹהִים דֶּרֶךְ אֶרֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּים כִּי קָרוֹב הוּא כִּי אָמַר אֱלֹהִים פֶּן-יִנָּחֵם הָעָם בִּרְאֹתָם מִלְחָמָה--וְשָׁבוּ מִצְרָיְמָה

    . . . . .

    And it was, when Pharaoh released the people, that God did not lead them by the road of the land of the Philistines, although it was nearfor God said: 'Lest the people regret, when they see war, and return to Egypt.'

  18. Shemot 13:18

    וַיַּסֵּב אֱלֹהִים אֶת-הָעָם דֶּרֶךְ הַמִּדְבָּר יַם-סוּף וַחֲמֻשִׁים עָלוּ בְנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם

    . . .

    And God turned them by the road of the wilderness toward the Sea of Qulzum (Red Sea); and in battle formation the sons of Israel went up from the land of Egypt.

  19. Shemot 13:19

    וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת-עַצְמוֹת יוֹסֵף עִמּוֹ כִּי הַשְׁבֵּעַ הִשְׁבִּיעַ אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר פָּקֹד יִפְקֹד אֱלֹהִים אֶתְכֶם וְהַעֲלִיתֶם אֶת-עַצְמֹתַי מִזֶּה אִתְּכֶם

    . . . .

    And Moses took the bones of Joseph with himfor he had made the sons of Israel swear, saying: 'When God remembers you, then bring up my bones from here with you.'

    וַיִּסְעוּ מִסֻּכֹּת וַיַּחֲנוּ בְאֵתָם בִּקְצֵה הַמִּדְבָּר

    And when they set out from Sukkot, they encamped at Etham, at the edge of the wilderness.

  21. Shemot 13:21

    וַיהוָה הֹלֵךְ לִפְנֵיהֶם יוֹמָם בְּעַמּוּד עָנָן לַנְחֹתָם הַדֶּרֶךְ וְלַיְלָה בְּעַמּוּד אֵשׁ לְהָאִיר לָהֶם--לָלֶכֶת יוֹמָם וָלָיְלָה

    . . .

    And God was going before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to guide them on the road; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them lightso that they could travel by day and by night.

  22. Shemot 13:22

    לֹא-יָמִישׁ עַמּוּד הֶעָנָן יוֹמָם וְעַמּוּד הָאֵשׁ לָיְלָה--לִפְנֵי הָעָם

    The pillar of cloud did not depart by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
