- Shemot 15:1
אָז יָשִׁיר-מֹשֶׁה וּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת-הַשִּׁירָה הַזֹּאת לַיהוָה וַיֹּאמְרוּ לֵאמֹר אָשִׁירָה לַיהוָה כִּי-גָאֹה גָּאָה סוּס וְרֹכְבוֹ רָמָה בַיָּם
. . . .
At that time Moses and the sons of Israel sang this hymn of praise to God, and they all said together: 'Let us praise God, for He has triumphed mightily — the horse and its rider He hurled into the sea.'

עָזִּי וְזִמְרָת יָהּ וַיְהִי-לִי לִישׁוּעָה זֶה אֵלִי וְאַנְוֵהוּ אֱלֹהֵי אָבִי וַאֲרֹמְמֶנְהוּ

'My strength and my glory is the Eternal, who was my salvation; this is my stronghold — I take refuge in Him; the God of my father — I exalt Him.'

יְהוָה אִישׁ מִלְחָמָה יְהוָה שְׁמוֹ

'God is the master of battles — God is His name.'

מַרְכְּבֹת פַּרְעֹה וְחֵילוֹ יָרָה בַיָּם וּמִבְחַר שָׁלִשָׁיו טֻבְּעוּ בְיַם-סוּף
. .
'The chariots of Pharaoh and his army He swept away into the sea; and the choicest of his officers were drowned in the Sea of Qulzum (Red Sea).'

תְּהֹמֹת יְכַסְיֻמוּ יָרְדוּ בִמְצוֹלֹת כְּמוֹ- אָבֶן

'The deep covered them; they went down to the bottom like stones.'
- Shemot 15:6
יְמִינְךָ יְהוָה נֶאְדָּרִי בַּכֹּחַ יְמִינְךָ יְהוָה תִּרְעַץ אוֹיֵב
. .
'Your right hand, O Lord, is great in power; Your right hand, O Lord, strikes terror into the enemies.'

וּבְרֹב גְּאוֹנְךָ תַּהֲרֹס קָמֶיךָ תְּשַׁלַּח חֲרֹנְךָ--יֹאכְלֵמוֹ כַּקַּשׁ

'And by Your abundant might You demolish Your adversaries; You send forth Your wrath — it consumes them like stubble.'

וּבְרוּחַ אַפֶּיךָ נֶעֶרְמוּ מַיִם נִצְּבוּ כְמוֹ-נֵד נֹזְלִים קָפְאוּ תְהֹמֹת בְּלֶב-יָם

'And by the wind of Your anger the water was heaped up; the flowing waters stood still like towering mountains; and the deep was frozen in the heart of the sea.'

אָמַר אוֹיֵב אֶרְדֹּף אַשִּׂיג אֲחַלֵּק שָׁלָל תִּמְלָאֵמוֹ נַפְשִׁי-- אָרִיק חַרְבִּי תּוֹרִישֵׁמוֹ יָדִי
. . . . .
'When the enemy said: I will pursue them and overtake them, and divide their spoil — my soul shall have its fill of satisfaction from them; I shall draw my sword, and my hand shall cut them down.'

נָשַׁפְתָּ בְרוּחֲךָ כִּסָּמוֹ יָם צָלְלוּ כַּעוֹפֶרֶת בְּמַיִם אַדִּירִים

'You blew with Your wind and the sea covered them; and they sank like lead in the mighty water.'

מִי-כָמֹכָה בָּאֵלִם יְהוָה מִי כָּמֹכָה נֶאְדָּר בַּקֹּדֶשׁ נוֹרָא תְהִלֹּת עֹשֵׂה פֶלֶא

'Who is like You among the worshipped, O Lord? Who is like You, the majestic and the holy — awesome in praise, the maker of wonders?'

נָטִיתָ יְמִינְךָ--תִּבְלָעֵמוֹ אָרֶץ
.
'You stretched forth Your right hand — and the earth swallowed them.'

נָחִיתָ בְחַסְדְּךָ עַם-זוּ גָּאָלְתָּ נֵהַלְתָּ בְעָזְּךָ אֶל-נְוֵה קָדְשֶׁךָ

'And You led in Your grace the people whom You redeemed, and You guided them in Your might to Your holy dwelling.'

שָׁמְעוּ עַמִּים יִרְגָּזוּן חִיל אָחַז יֹשְׁבֵי פְּלָשֶׁת

'The nations heard and trembled; and birth-pangs seized the inhabitants of Philistia.'

אָז נִבְהֲלוּ אַלּוּפֵי אֱדוֹם-- אֵילֵי מוֹאָב יֹאחֲזֵמוֹ רָעַד נָמֹגוּ כֹּל יֹשְׁבֵי כְנָעַן

'At that time the chiefs of Edom were dismayed, and the nobles of Moab — trembling seized them; and all the inhabitants of Canaan were convulsed.'

תִּפֹּל עֲלֵיהֶם אֵימָתָה וָפַחַד בִּגְדֹל זְרוֹעֲךָ יִדְּמוּ כָּאָבֶן עַד- יַעֲבֹר עַמְּךָ יְהוָה עַד-יַעֲבֹר עַם-זוּ קָנִיתָ
. . .
'May dread and terror fall upon them; by the greatness of Your power may they be still as stone — until Your people pass over, O Lord; until the people pass over whom You have made Your own.'

תְּבִאֵמוֹ וְתִטָּעֵמוֹ בְּהַר נַחֲלָתְךָ-- מָכוֹן לְשִׁבְתְּךָ פָּעַלְתָּ יְהוָה מִקְּדָשׁ אֲדֹנָי כּוֹנְנוּ יָדֶיךָ
. . . .
'One by one You shall bring them in and plant them on the mountain of Your inheritance — prepared as a dwelling for You; You have made it, O Lord, a holy abode; O Lord, Your hands have established it.'

יְהוָה יִמְלֹךְ לְעֹלָם וָעֶד
'God is King for ever and ever.'

For when the horses of Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen entered into the sea, God turned back upon them the waters of the sea; and the sons of Israel walked on the dry land in the midst of the sea.

וַתִּקַּח מִרְיָם הַנְּבִיאָה אֲחוֹת אַהֲרֹן אֶת-הַתֹּף--בְּיָדָהּ וַתֵּצֶאןָ כָל-הַנָּשִׁים אַחֲרֶיהָ בְּתֻפִּים וּבִמְחֹלֹת

Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went out after her with tambourines and drums.

וַתַּעַן לָהֶם מִרְיָם שִׁירוּ לַיהוָה כִּי-גָאֹה גָּאָה סוּס וְרֹכְבוֹ רָמָה בַיָּם

וַיַּסַּע מֹשֶׁה אֶת-יִשְׂרָאֵל מִיַּם-סוּף וַיֵּצְאוּ אֶל-מִדְבַּר-שׁוּר וַיֵּלְכוּ שְׁלֹשֶׁת-יָמִים בַּמִּדְבָּר וְלֹא-מָצְאוּ מָיִם

And Moses moved the sons of Israel on from the Sea of Qulzum, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they traveled three days in the wilderness and found no water.

וַיָּבֹאוּ מָרָתָה--וְלֹא יָכְלוּ לִשְׁתֹּת מַיִם מִמָּרָה כִּי מָרִים הֵם עַל-כֵּן קָרָא-שְׁמָהּ מָרָה

And they came to the Bitterness, and they could not drink water from it, for it was bitter; and therefore it was named the Bitterness.

וַיִּלֹּנוּ הָעָם עַל-מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר מַה-נִּשְׁתֶּה

And the people murmured against Moses, saying: 'What shall we drink?'

וַיִּצְעַק אֶל-יְהוָה וַיּוֹרֵהוּ יְהוָה עֵץ וַיַּשְׁלֵךְ אֶל-הַמַּיִם וַיִּמְתְּקוּ הַמָּיִם שָׁם שָׂם לוֹ חֹק וּמִשְׁפָּט וְשָׁם נִסָּהוּ
. . . .
And he cried out to God; and He directed him to a tree, and he cast branches of it into the water, and it became sweet. There He established for them ordinances and laws, and there He put them to the test.

וַיֹּאמֶר אִם-שָׁמוֹעַ תִּשְׁמַע לְקוֹל יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ וְהַיָּשָׁר בְּעֵינָיו תַּעֲשֶׂה וְהַאֲזַנְתָּ לְמִצְוֹתָיו וְשָׁמַרְתָּ כָּל-חֻקָּיו--כָּל-הַמַּחֲלָה אֲשֶׁר-שַׂמְתִּי בְמִצְרַיִם לֹא-אָשִׂים עָלֶיךָ כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה רֹפְאֶךָ

And He said: 'If you accept the command of God your Lord, and do what is right in His sight, and hearken to His commandments, and keep all His ordinances — then all the diseases which I brought upon the Egyptians I shall bring upon you none of them, for I am God your healer.'

וַיָּבֹאוּ אֵילִמָה--וְשָׁם שְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה עֵינֹת מַיִם וְשִׁבְעִים תְּמָרִים וַיַּחֲנוּ-שָׁם עַל-הַמָּיִם

Then they came to Elim, and there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees; and they encamped there by the water.
