- Bamidbar 2:1
וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶל-אַהֲרֹן לֵאמֹר
Then God spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:
- Bamidbar 2:2
אִישׁ עַל-דִּגְלוֹ בְאֹתֹת לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם יַחֲנוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִנֶּגֶד סָבִיב לְאֹהֶל-מוֹעֵד יַחֲנוּ
. .
Each tribe in its station, with signs for their fathers' houses — the sons of Israel shall encamp; facing the tent of the Presence, and around it they shall encamp.
- Bamidbar 2:3
וְהַחֹנִים קֵדְמָה מִזְרָחָה דֶּגֶל מַחֲנֵה יְהוּדָה לְצִבְאֹתָם וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי יְהוּדָה נַחְשׁוֹן בֶּן-עַמִּינָדָב
. . .
And those encamping in the east: the station of the camp of Judah, by their hosts; and their noble is Nahshon son of Amminadab.

וּצְבָאוֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶם--אַרְבָּעָה וְשִׁבְעִים אֶלֶף וְשֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת

And the count of his host: seventy-four thousand six hundred.

וְהַחֹנִים עָלָיו מַטֵּה יִשָּׂשכָר וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי יִשָּׂשכָר נְתַנְאֵל בֶּן-צוּעָר

And those encamping beside him: the tribe of Issachar; and their noble is Nethanel son of Zuar.

וּצְבָאוֹ וּפְקֻדָיו--אַרְבָּעָה וַחֲמִשִּׁים אֶלֶף וְאַרְבַּע מֵאוֹת

And the count of his host: fifty-four thousand four hundred.

מַטֵּה זְבוּלֻן וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי זְבוּלֻן אֱלִיאָב בֶּן-חֵלֹן

Beside him: the tribe of Zebulun; and their noble is Eliab son of Helon.
- Bamidbar 2:8
וּצְבָאוֹ וּפְקֻדָיו--שִׁבְעָה וַחֲמִשִּׁים אֶלֶף וְאַרְבַּע מֵאוֹת
.
And the count of his host: fifty-seven thousand four hundred.

כָּל-הַפְּקֻדִים לְמַחֲנֵה יְהוּדָה מְאַת אֶלֶף וּשְׁמֹנִים אֶלֶף וְשֵׁשֶׁת-אֲלָפִים וְאַרְבַּע-מֵאוֹת--לְצִבְאֹתָם רִאשֹׁנָה יִסָּעוּ

That, then, is the whole count of the camp of Judah: a hundred thousand, and eighty-six thousand and four hundred, by their hosts. And they shall set out first.

The station of the camp of Reuben, in the south, by their hosts; and their noble is Elizur son of Shedeur.

וְהַחוֹנִם עָלָיו מַטֵּה שִׁמְעוֹן וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי שִׁמְעוֹן שְׁלֻמִיאֵל בֶּן-צוּרִישַׁדָּי

And those encamping beside him: the tribe of Simeon; and their noble is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.

וּצְבָאוֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶם--תִּשְׁעָה וַחֲמִשִּׁים אֶלֶף וּשְׁלֹשׁ מֵאוֹת

And the count of his host: fifty-nine thousand three hundred.

וּמַטֵּה גָּד וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי גָד אֶלְיָסָף בֶּן-רְעוּאֵל

And beside him: the tribe of Gad; and their noble is Eliasaph son of Reuel.

וּצְבָאוֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶם--חֲמִשָּׁה וְאַרְבָּעִים אֶלֶף וְשֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת וַחֲמִשִּׁים

And the count of his host: forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.

כָּל-הַפְּקֻדִים לְמַחֲנֵה רְאוּבֵן מְאַת אֶלֶף וְאֶחָד וַחֲמִשִּׁים אֶלֶף וְאַרְבַּע-מֵאוֹת וַחֲמִשִּׁים--לְצִבְאֹתָם וּשְׁנִיִּם יִסָּעוּ
.
That, then, is the whole count of the camp of Reuben: a hundred and fifty-one thousand, and four hundred and fifty, by their hosts. And they shall set out second.

וְנָסַע אֹהֶל-מוֹעֵד מַחֲנֵה הַלְוִיִּם בְּתוֹךְ הַמַּחֲנֹת כַּאֲשֶׁר יַחֲנוּ כֵּן יִסָּעוּ אִישׁ עַל-יָדוֹ לְדִגְלֵיהֶם
. . .
And the tent of the Presence shall set out — the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp; and as they encamp, so shall they set out, each group in its place and its station.

דֶּגֶל מַחֲנֵה אֶפְרַיִם לְצִבְאֹתָם יָמָּה וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי אֶפְרַיִם אֱלִישָׁמָע בֶּן-עַמִּיהוּד

The station of the camp of Ephraim, by their hosts, in the west; and their noble is Elishama son of Ammihud.

כָּל-הַפְּקֻדִים לְמַחֲנֵה אֶפְרַיִם מְאַת אֶלֶף וּשְׁמֹנַת-אֲלָפִים וּמֵאָה--לְצִבְאֹתָם וּשְׁלִשִׁים יִסָּעוּ

That, then, is the whole count of the camp of Ephraim: a hundred thousand and eight thousand and a hundred, by their hosts. And they shall set out third.

דֶּגֶל מַחֲנֵה דָן צָפֹנָה לְצִבְאֹתָם וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי דָן אֲחִיעֶזֶר בֶּן-עַמִּישַׁדָּי

And the station of the camp of Dan, in the north, by their hosts; and their noble is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai.

וּצְבָאוֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶם--שְׁנַיִם וְשִׁשִּׁים אֶלֶף וּשְׁבַע מֵאוֹת
And the count of his host: sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

וְהַחֹנִים עָלָיו מַטֵּה אָשֵׁר וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי אָשֵׁר פַּגְעִיאֵל בֶּן-עָכְרָן

And those encamping beside him: the tribe of Asher; and their noble is Pagiel son of Ochran.

וּצְבָאוֹ וּפְקֻדֵיהֶם--אֶחָד וְאַרְבָּעִים אֶלֶף וַחֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת

And the count of his host: forty-one thousand five hundred.
- Bamidbar 2:29
וּמַטֵּה נַפְתָּלִי וְנָשִׂיא לִבְנֵי נַפְתָּלִי אֲחִירַע בֶּן-עֵינָן

And beside him: the tribe of Naphtali; and their noble is Ahira son of Enan.

כָּל-הַפְּקֻדִים לְמַחֲנֵה דָן--מְאַת אֶלֶף וְשִׁבְעָה וַחֲמִשִּׁים אֶלֶף וְשֵׁשׁ מֵאוֹת לָאַחֲרֹנָה יִסְעוּ לְדִגְלֵיהֶם
. .
That, then, is the whole count of the camp of Dan: a hundred and fifty-seven thousand six hundred. And they shall set out last, by their hosts.

אֵלֶּה פְּקוּדֵי בְנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל לְבֵית אֲבֹתָם כָּל-פְּקוּדֵי הַמַּחֲנֹת לְצִבְאֹתָם--שֵׁשׁ-מֵאוֹת אֶלֶף וּשְׁלֹשֶׁת אֲלָפִים וַחֲמֵשׁ מֵאוֹת וַחֲמִשִּׁים
. . .
These are those counted of the sons of Israel, by their fathers' houses; the total count of the camp, by their hosts: six hundred thousand and three thousand, five hundred and fifty.

וְהַלְוִיִּם--לֹא הָתְפָּקְדוּ בְּתוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת-מֹשֶׁה

As for the Levites, they were not counted in the total of the sons of Israel, as God had commanded Moses.

וַיַּעֲשׂוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת-מֹשֶׁה כֵּן-חָנוּ לְדִגְלֵיהֶם וְכֵן נָסָעוּ--אִישׁ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָיו עַל-בֵּית אֲבֹתָיו
. . .
And then the sons of Israel did as God had commanded Moses: thus they encamped in their stations, and thus they set out — each tribe by their clans, according to their fathers' houses.
