- Bereshit 34:2
. . .
And Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the noble of the land, saw her; and he took her, and lay with her, and forced her.
- Bereshit 34:3
.
And his soul clung to her; and he loved her, and spoke kindly with her.
- Bereshit 34:4

. . .
And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter; and his sons were with his cattle in the wilderness; and he held his peace until their coming.
- Bereshit 34:6
. .
And Hamor, father of Shechem, went out to Jacob, to speak with him about it.
- Bereshit 34:7
. . . . .
And the sons of Jacob came from the wilderness when they heard; and the men were grieved, and it grew very hard upon them — for he had wrought an outrage against Israel, by lying with his daughter; and so should not be done.
- Bereshit 34:8
. . .
And Hamor spoke with them, saying: 'My son Shechem — his soul is attached to your daughter; give her to him as a wife.
- Bereshit 34:9
.
And intermarry with us — give us your daughters, and take our daughters.
- Bereshit 34:10
. . .
And dwell with us; behold, the land is before you; settle, and trade in it, and possess it.'
- Bereshit 34:11
. .

- Bereshit 34:12

- Bereshit 34:13

. .

. . . .
and they said to them: 'We cannot do this thing — to give our sister to a man who has a foreskin; for that is a disgrace to us.
- Bereshit 34:15
. . .
But on this condition shall we consent to you: that you become as we are — that every male among you be circumcised.
- Bereshit 34:16
. . .
Then we shall give you our daughters, and take your daughters; and we shall dwell with you, and become one people.
- Bereshit 34:17
.
But if you shall not accept from us, and be circumcised — we shall take our daughter and go.'

- Bereshit 34:19

. . . .
But on this condition will the people consent to dwell with us, and to become one people: that every male of ours be circumcised, as they are circumcised.
- Bereshit 34:23
. . .
Their livestock and their cattle and their beasts and the rest of their property — shall it not become ours? Only let us consent to them on this — and they shall dwell with us.'
- Bereshit 34:24
. .
