- Devarim 23:1
.
A man shall not marry his father's wife — likewise shall he not uncover his father's skirt.
- Devarim 23:2
.
He who has crushed testicles, or whose member is cut off, shall not enter the assembly of God.
- Devarim 23:3
. .
One of unknown lineage shall not enter the assembly of God; even the tenth generation from him shall not enter the assembly of God.
- Devarim 23:4
. . .
An Ammonite and a Moabite shall not enter the assembly of God; even the tenth generation from them shall not enter the assembly of God — forever.
- Devarim 23:5
. . .
This is because they did not meet you with bread and water on the road, at the time of your going out from Egypt; and because he hired against you Balaam son of Beor, from Pethor of Aram-Naharaim, to curse you.
- Devarim 23:6
. .
But God your Lord did not will to accept from Balaam; rather He turned the curse into a blessing for you, because He loved you.
- Devarim 23:7
.
Therefore do not seek their welfare and their good — for the length of your time, ever.
- Devarim 23:8
. . .
Do not despise the Edomite, for he is your brother; do not despise the Egyptian, for you were a stranger in his land.
- Devarim 23:9
. .
The third generation of the sons who are born to them may enter the assembly of God.
- Devarim 23:10
. .
And when you go out in a camp against your enemies, guard yourself especially from every vile matter.
- Devarim 23:11
. . .
And if there be among you a man who is not clean on account of a nocturnal occurrence, he shall go out to the outside of the camp — that is, he shall not enter into its midst.
- Devarim 23:12
.
And when the time comes at the turning toward night, he shall wash with water; and at the setting of the sun he shall enter into it.
- Devarim 23:13
.
And there shall be a place for you outside the camp, where you may go out there, outside of it.
- Devarim 23:14
. . .
And there shall be a peg for you along with your weapons; and when you go out there, you shall dig with it, and return and cover that excrement.
- Devarim 23:15
. . . . .
For God your Lord — His light moves within the midst of your camp, to deliver you and to deliver your enemies into your hand; and so your camp shall be consecrated, and let no vile matter be seen among you, that He turn away from you.
- Devarim 23:16
. .
You shall not deliver a slave to his master who escapes to you on account of his debt; rather you shall be generous to him.
- Devarim 23:17
. . .
And he shall dwell beside you, among you, in the place which he chooses, in one of your localities — in what is best for him; and you shall not oppress him.
- Devarim 23:18
.
There shall not be among the daughters of Israel a woman who gives pleasure for hire, nor among the sons of Israel a man who gives pleasure for hire.
- Devarim 23:19
. .
And do not bring anything from the hire of harlots or the price of dogs into the house of God your Lord, for any of all vows — for God your Lord loathes them both.
- Devarim 23:20
. .
You shall not charge your brother interest — interest of money, nor of food, nor of any matter that may bear interest.
- Devarim 23:21
. . . . .
From the stranger you may charge interest, but from your brother you shall not charge interest — so that God your Lord may bless you in all the reach of your hand, in the land which you are entering to take possession of it.
- Devarim 23:22
. . .
And if you vow a vow to God your Lord, do not delay fulfilling it — for He will demand it of you with demand, and a punishment shall befall you.
- Devarim 23:23
.
Whereas had you refrained from it at the outset, no punishment would have befallen you.
- Devarim 23:24
. .
Rather, what has gone forth from your lips — guard it and act upon it, as you vowed to God your Lord voluntarily, as you spoke it with your mouth.
- Devarim 23:25
. . .
And when you are hired in your fellow's vineyard, you may eat of the grapes as your appetite satisfies you; but you shall not place anything from them into your vessel.
- Devarim 23:26
. . .
And when you are hired among your fellow's standing grain, you may pluck what you can rub with your hand; but you shall not swing the sickle over your fellow's standing grain for yourself.
