- Shemot 10:1
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה בֹּא אֶל-פַּרְעֹה כִּי-אֲנִי הִכְבַּדְתִּי אֶת-לִבּוֹ וְאֶת-לֵב עֲבָדָיו לְמַעַן שִׁתִי אֹתֹתַי אֵלֶּה בְּקִרְבּוֹ
. . .
Then God said to Moses: 'Go in to Pharaoh — for I have strengthened his heart and the hearts of his officers, so that I may bring these my plagues upon them.
- Shemot 10:2
וּלְמַעַן תְּסַפֵּר בְּאָזְנֵי בִנְךָ וּבֶן-בִּנְךָ אֵת אֲשֶׁר הִתְעַלַּלְתִּי בְּמִצְרַיִם וְאֶת-אֹתֹתַי אֲשֶׁר-שַׂמְתִּי בָם וִידַעְתֶּם כִּי-אֲנִי יְהוָה
. . .
And so that you may recount to your son and to your son's son what I have struck the Egyptians with by force, and my plagues which I have brought upon them — that you may know that I am God.'

וַיָּבֹא מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן אֶל-פַּרְעֹה וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו כֹּה-אָמַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי הָעִבְרִים עַד-מָתַי מֵאַנְתָּ לֵעָנֹת מִפָּנָי שַׁלַּח עַמִּי וְיַעַבְדֻנִי
. . . . .
And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and said to him: 'Thus says God, the God of the Hebrews: How long will you refuse to submit before Me? Release my people, that they may serve Me.
- Shemot 10:4
כִּי אִם-מָאֵן אַתָּה לְשַׁלֵּחַ אֶת-עַמִּי--הִנְנִי מֵבִיא מָחָר אַרְבֶּה בִּגְבֻלֶךָ
. .
For if you refuse to release my people — behold, I am bringing at daybreak the locusts within your territory,
- Shemot 10:5
וְכִסָּה אֶת-עֵין הָאָרֶץ וְלֹא יוּכַל לִרְאֹת אֶת-הָאָרֶץ וְאָכַל אֶת-יֶתֶר הַפְּלֵטָה הַנִּשְׁאֶרֶת לָכֶם מִן-הַבָּרָד וְאָכַל אֶת-כָּל-הָעֵץ הַצֹּמֵחַ לָכֶם מִן-הַשָּׂדֶה
. . . . .
and they shall cover the eye of the land, so that no one shall be able to look upon it; and they shall eat the remainder of the remnant that was left to you from the hail, and they shall eat every tree growing for you from the wilderness.'

וּמָלְאוּ בָתֶּיךָ וּבָתֵּי כָל-עֲבָדֶיךָ וּבָתֵּי כָל-מִצְרַיִם אֲשֶׁר לֹא-רָאוּ אֲבֹתֶיךָ וַאֲבוֹת אֲבֹתֶיךָ מִיּוֹם הֱיוֹתָם עַל-הָאֲדָמָה עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה וַיִּפֶן וַיֵּצֵא מֵעִם פַּרְעֹה
. . . . .
And your houses shall be filled with them, and the houses of your officers and the houses of the rest of the Egyptians — the like of which your fathers and your fathers' fathers have not seen, since their being upon the earth until this day.' Then he turned and went out from before Pharaoh.

וַיֹּאמְרוּ עַבְדֵי פַרְעֹה אֵלָיו עַד-מָתַי יִהְיֶה זֶה לָנוּ לְמוֹקֵשׁ--שַׁלַּח אֶת-הָאֲנָשִׁים וְיַעַבְדוּ אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיהֶם הֲטֶרֶם תֵּדַע כִּי אָבְדָה מִצְרָיִם
. . .
And the officers of Pharaoh said to him: 'How long shall this be a snare about our necks? Release the people, that they may serve God their Lord — before you see Egypt utterly destroyed.'
- Shemot 10:8
וַיּוּשַׁב אֶת-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶת-אַהֲרֹן אֶל-פַּרְעֹה וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם לְכוּ עִבְדוּ אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם מִי וָמִי הַהֹלְכִים
. . .
So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh, and he said to them: 'Go, serve God your Lord. But who and who are those who are going?'
- Shemot 10:9
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה בִּנְעָרֵינוּ וּבִזְקֵנֵינוּ נֵלֵךְ בְּבָנֵינוּ וּבִבְנוֹתֵנוּ בְּצֹאנֵנוּ וּבִבְקָרֵנוּ נֵלֵךְ--כִּי חַג-יְהוָה לָנוּ
. . . .
Moses said: 'With our young and with our elders we shall go; with our sons and with our daughters, with our flock and with our cattle we shall go — for the festival of God belongs to us.'
- Shemot 10:10
וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם יְהִי כֵן יְהוָה עִמָּכֶם כַּאֲשֶׁר אֲשַׁלַּח אֶתְכֶם וְאֶת-טַפְּכֶם רְאוּ כִּי רָעָה נֶגֶד פְּנֵיכֶם
. . .
He said to them: 'So be it — may God be with you — just as I would release you and your children! Behold, I see evil facing you.'
- Shemot 10:11
לֹא כֵן לְכוּ-נָא הַגְּבָרִים וְעִבְדוּ אֶת-יְהוָה--כִּי אֹתָהּ אַתֶּם מְבַקְשִׁים וַיְגָרֶשׁ אֹתָם מֵאֵת פְּנֵי פַרְעֹה
. . .
It is not thus. Let the men among you go and serve God — for that is indeed what you are seeking.' And he drove them out from before Pharaoh.

וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה נְטֵה יָדְךָ עַל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם בָּאַרְבֶּה וְיַעַל עַל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם וְיֹאכַל אֶת-כָּל-עֵשֶׂב הָאָרֶץ אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר הִשְׁאִיר הַבָּרָד
. . . .
And God said to Moses: 'Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt on account of the locusts, that they may come up over the land of Egypt and eat all its herbage — all that the hail left.'

וַיֵּט מֹשֶׁה אֶת-מַטֵּהוּ עַל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וַיהוָה נִהַג רוּחַ-קָדִים בָּאָרֶץ כָּל-הַיּוֹם הַהוּא וְכָל-הַלָּיְלָה הַבֹּקֶר הָיָה--וְרוּחַ הַקָּדִים נָשָׂא אֶת-הָאַרְבֶּה
. . . .
And Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and God drove the qibla-wind through the land all that day and its night; and when morning came, the qibla-wind carried the locusts.

וַיַּעַל הָאַרְבֶּה עַל כָּל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וַיָּנַח בְּכֹל גְּבוּל מִצְרָיִם כָּבֵד מְאֹד--לְפָנָיו לֹא-הָיָה כֵן אַרְבֶּה כָּמֹהוּ וְאַחֲרָיו לֹא יִהְיֶה-כֵּן
. . . .
And the locusts came up over all the land of Egypt and settled throughout all its territory — very greatly; before it there had been no such locusts as these, and after it there shall not be so.

וַיְכַס אֶת-עֵין כָּל-הָאָרֶץ וַתֶּחְשַׁךְ הָאָרֶץ וַיֹּאכַל אֶת-כָּל-עֵשֶׂב הָאָרֶץ וְאֵת כָּל-פְּרִי הָעֵץ אֲשֶׁר הוֹתִיר הַבָּרָד וְלֹא-נוֹתַר כָּל-יֶרֶק בָּעֵץ וּבְעֵשֶׂב הַשָּׂדֶה בְּכָל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם
. . . . .
And it covered the eye of all the land until it was darkened; and it ate all the herbage of the land, and all the fruit of the trees that the hail had left; and there remained nothing of the green in the trees or in the herbage of the wilderness throughout all the land of Egypt.

וַיְמַהֵר פַּרְעֹה לִקְרֹא לְמֹשֶׁה וּלְאַהֲרֹן וַיֹּאמֶר חָטָאתִי לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם--וְלָכֶם
. . .
Then Pharaoh hastened and called for Moses and Aaron, and said: 'I have sinned against God your Lord, and against you.

וְעַתָּה שָׂא נָא חַטָּאתִי אַךְ הַפַּעַם וְהַעְתִּירוּ לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם וְיָסֵר מֵעָלַי רַק אֶת-הַמָּוֶת הַזֶּה
. . .
And now — bear my sin this time, and intercede with God your Lord, that He remove from me this sheer death.'

וַיֵּצֵא מֵעִם פַּרְעֹה וַיֶּעְתַּר אֶל-יְהוָה
And when he went out from before him, he interceded with God.

וַיַּהֲפֹךְ יְהוָה רוּחַ-יָם חָזָק מְאֹד וַיִּשָּׂא אֶת-הָאַרְבֶּה וַיִּתְקָעֵהוּ יָמָּה סּוּף לֹא נִשְׁאַר אַרְבֶּה אֶחָד בְּכֹל גְּבוּל מִצְרָיִם
. . . .
And God turned a very fierce west wind, and it carried the locusts, and the Sea of Qulzum (Red Sea) received them; not a single locust remained in all the land of Egypt.

וַיְחַזֵּק יְהוָה אֶת-לֵב פַּרְעֹה וְלֹא שִׁלַּח אֶת-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל

And God hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not release the sons of Israel.

וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה נְטֵה יָדְךָ עַל-הַשָּׁמַיִם וִיהִי חֹשֶׁךְ עַל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם וְיָמֵשׁ חֹשֶׁךְ
. .
And God said to Moses: 'Stretch out your hand toward the sky — there shall be darkness over all the land of Egypt, after the fading of the darkness of night.'

וַיֵּט מֹשֶׁה אֶת-יָדוֹ עַל-הַשָּׁמָיִם וַיְהִי חֹשֶׁךְ-אֲפֵלָה בְּכָל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים
. .
And Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was a thick darkness throughout all the land of Egypt — three days.

לֹא-רָאוּ אִישׁ אֶת-אָחִיו וְלֹא-קָמוּ אִישׁ מִתַּחְתָּיו--שְׁלֹשֶׁת יָמִים וּלְכָל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הָיָה אוֹר בְּמוֹשְׁבֹתָם
. .
No person saw his fellow, and no person rose from his place for three days; but for all the sons of Israel there was light in their dwellings.

וַיִּקְרָא פַרְעֹה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וַיֹּאמֶר לְכוּ עִבְדוּ אֶת-יְהוָה--רַק צֹאנְכֶם וּבְקַרְכֶם יֻצָּג גַּם-טַפְּכֶם יֵלֵךְ עִמָּכֶם
. . .
And Pharaoh called for Moses, and said: 'Go, serve God — only your flock and your cattle leave behind; your children may go with you.'
- Shemot 10:25
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה גַּם-אַתָּה תִּתֵּן בְּיָדֵנוּ זְבָחִים וְעֹלֹת וְעָשִׂינוּ לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ
. . .
Moses said to him: 'Nay, you yourself shall give us sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may offer them to God our Lord.
- Shemot 10:26
וְגַם-מִקְנֵנוּ יֵלֵךְ עִמָּנוּ לֹא תִשָּׁאֵר פַּרְסָה--כִּי מִמֶּנּוּ נִקַּח לַעֲבֹד אֶת-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וַאֲנַחְנוּ לֹא-נֵדַע מַה-נַּעֲבֹד אֶת-יְהוָה עַד-בֹּאֵנוּ שָׁמָּה
. . . . .
And our livestock shall go with us too — not a hoof shall remain from them; for from them we shall take to serve God our Lord; and we do not know how great a measure of what we shall serve God with, until we arrive there.'

וַיְחַזֵּק יְהוָה אֶת-לֵב פַּרְעֹה וְלֹא אָבָה לְשַׁלְּחָם

And God hardened his heart, and he did not will to release them.
- Shemot 10:28
וַיֹּאמֶר-לוֹ פַרְעֹה לֵךְ מֵעָלָי הִשָּׁמֶר לְךָ אַל-תֹּסֶף רְאוֹת פָּנַי--כִּי בְּיוֹם רְאֹתְךָ פָנַי תָּמוּת

Pharaoh said to him: 'Go from me — beware lest you see my face again; for on the day you see my face, you shall be put to death.'
- Shemot 10:29
וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה כֵּן דִּבַּרְתָּ לֹא-אֹסִף עוֹד רְאוֹת פָּנֶיךָ

Moses said to him: 'You have spoken rightly. I shall not see your face again.'
