- Shemot 7:1
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה רְאֵה נְתַתִּיךָ אֱלֹהִים לְפַרְעֹה וְאַהֲרֹן אָחִיךָ יִהְיֶה נְבִיאֶךָ
. . .
And God said to him: 'Look — I have made you a master in the matter of Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your spokesman.'
- Shemot 7:2
אַתָּה תְדַבֵּר אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר אֲצַוֶּךָּ וְאַהֲרֹן אָחִיךָ יְדַבֵּר אֶל-פַּרְעֹה וְשִׁלַּח אֶת-בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאַרְצוֹ
. .
You shall speak to Aaron your brother with all that I command you, and Aaron your brother shall speak to Pharaoh, that he may release the sons of Israel from his land.'

וַאֲנִי אַקְשֶׁה אֶת-לֵב פַּרְעֹה וְהִרְבֵּיתִי אֶת-אֹתֹתַי וְאֶת-מוֹפְתַי בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם
. .
And I shall harden the heart of Pharaoh, and multiply My signs and My proofs in the land of Egypt.

וְלֹא-יִשְׁמַע אֲלֵכֶם פַּרְעֹה וְנָתַתִּי אֶת-יָדִי בְּמִצְרָיִם וְהוֹצֵאתִי אֶת-צִבְאֹתַי אֶת-עַמִּי בְנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם בִּשְׁפָטִים גְּדֹלִים
. . . . ]]
And Pharaoh shall not accept from you, until I bring My plagues upon the Egyptians, and bring forth My hosts — My people, the sons of Israel — from the land of Egypt, with great judgments.
- Shemot 7:5
וְיָדְעוּ מִצְרַיִם כִּי-אֲנִי יְהוָה בִּנְטֹתִי אֶת-יָדִי עַל-מִצְרָיִם וְהוֹצֵאתִי אֶת-בְּנֵי-יִשְׂרָאֵל מִתּוֹכָם
. .
And the Egyptians shall know that I am God, when I release My plagues upon them, and bring out the sons of Israel from among them.'

וַיַּעַשׂ מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן--כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֹתָם כֵּן עָשׂוּ

And Moses and Aaron did as God had commanded them — so they did.
- Shemot 7:7
וּמֹשֶׁה בֶּן-שְׁמֹנִים שָׁנָה וְאַהֲרֹן בֶּן-שָׁלֹשׁ וּשְׁמֹנִים שָׁנָה--בְּדַבְּרָם אֶל-פַּרְעֹה
. .
And Moses was eighty years of age, and Aaron eighty-three years of age, when the two of them spoke to Pharaoh.

וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה וְאֶל-אַהֲרֹן לֵאמֹר

Then God said to Moses and Aaron, saying:
- Shemot 7:9
כִּי יְדַבֵּר אֲלֵכֶם פַּרְעֹה לֵאמֹר תְּנוּ לָכֶם מוֹפֵת וְאָמַרְתָּ אֶל-אַהֲרֹן קַח אֶת-מַטְּךָ וְהַשְׁלֵךְ לִפְנֵי-פַרְעֹה--יְהִי לְתַנִּין
) . . .
'When Pharaoh speaks to you and says: Give me a proof — then say to Aaron: Take your staff, and throw it before him; it shall become a serpent.'

וַיָּבֹא מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן אֶל-פַּרְעֹה וַיַּעֲשׂוּ כֵן כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה וַיַּשְׁלֵךְ אַהֲרֹן אֶת-מַטֵּהוּ לִפְנֵי פַרְעֹה וְלִפְנֵי עֲבָדָיו--וַיְהִי לְתַנִּין
. . .
And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and did so, as God had said; and Aaron threw his staff before Pharaoh and his officers, and it became a serpent.
- Shemot 7:11
וַיִּקְרָא גַּם-פַּרְעֹה לַחֲכָמִים וְלַמְכַשְּׁפִים וַיַּעֲשׂוּ גַם-הֵם חַרְטֻמֵּי מִצְרַיִם בְּלַהֲטֵיהֶם--כֵּן
. . .
Then Pharaoh called for the sages and the sorcerers; and the learned men of Egypt did the same with their secret arts.
- Shemot 7:12
וַיַּשְׁלִיכוּ אִישׁ מַטֵּהוּ וַיִּהְיוּ לְתַנִּינִם וַיִּבְלַע מַטֵּה-אַהֲרֹן אֶת-מַטֹּתָם
. .
Each man threw his staff, and they became like serpents — but Aaron's staff swallowed their staves.
- Shemot 7:13
וַיֶּחֱזַק לֵב פַּרְעֹה וְלֹא שָׁמַע אֲלֵהֶם כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה

And Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not accept from them — as God had said.
- Shemot 7:14
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה כָּבֵד לֵב פַּרְעֹה מֵאֵן לְשַׁלַּח הָעָם
. .
And God said to Moses: 'The heart of Pharaoh has grown heavy, and he has refused to release the people.'

לֵךְ אֶל-פַּרְעֹה בַּבֹּקֶר הִנֵּה יֹצֵא הַמַּיְמָה וְנִצַּבְתָּ לִקְרָאתוֹ עַל-שְׂפַת הַיְאֹר וְהַמַּטֶּה אֲשֶׁר-נֶהְפַּךְ לְנָחָשׁ תִּקַּח בְּיָדֶךָ
. . . .
'Go to him in the morning — behold, he is going out to the water — and stand to meet him on the shore of the Nile; and the staff which turned into a serpent, take it in your hand.'

וְאָמַרְתָּ אֵלָיו יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי הָעִבְרִים שְׁלָחַנִי אֵלֶיךָ לֵאמֹר שַׁלַּח אֶת-עַמִּי וְיַעַבְדֻנִי בַּמִּדְבָּר וְהִנֵּה לֹא-שָׁמַעְתָּ עַד-כֹּה
. . . .
'And say to him: God, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you, saying: Release my people, that they may serve me in the open country — and behold, you have not accepted until now.'

כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה בְּזֹאת תֵּדַע כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי מַכֶּה בַּמַּטֶּה אֲשֶׁר-בְּיָדִי עַל-הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר בַּיְאֹר--וְנֶהֶפְכוּ לְדָם
. . . .
'Thus says God: By this means shall you know that I am God, the One who punishes — behold, I am striking with the staff that is in my hand the water which is in the Nile, and it shall turn to blood.'

וְהַדָּגָה אֲשֶׁר-בַּיְאֹר תָּמוּת וּבָאַשׁ הַיְאֹר וְנִלְאוּ מִצְרַיִם לִשְׁתּוֹת מַיִם מִן-הַיְאֹר
. . .
'And the fish that are in the Nile shall perish, and the Nile shall stink, and the Egyptians shall be unable to drink water from the Nile.'

וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה אֱמֹר אֶל-אַהֲרֹן קַח מַטְּךָ וּנְטֵה-יָדְךָ עַל-מֵימֵי מִצְרַיִם עַל-נַהֲרֹתָם עַל-יְאֹרֵיהֶם וְעַל-אַגְמֵיהֶם וְעַל כָּל-מִקְוֵה מֵימֵיהֶם--וְיִהְיוּ-דָם וְהָיָה דָם בְּכָל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וּבָעֵצִים וּבָאֲבָנִים
. . . . .
Then God said to Moses: 'Say to Aaron: Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of the Egyptians — over their rivers and their inlets and their marshes, and the rest of the gatherings of their waters — that they may turn to blood; and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, and in vessels of wood and of stone.'

וְהַדָּגָה אֲשֶׁר-בַּיְאֹר מֵתָה וַיִּבְאַשׁ הַיְאֹר וְלֹא-יָכְלוּ מִצְרַיִם לִשְׁתּוֹת מַיִם מִן-הַיְאֹר וַיְהִי הַדָּם בְּכָל-אֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם
. . .
And the fish that were in the Nile perished, and the Nile stank, and the Egyptians were unable to drink water from it; and blood was throughout all the land of Egypt.

וַיַּעֲשׂוּ-כֵן חַרְטֻמֵּי מִצְרַיִם בְּלָטֵיהֶם וַיֶּחֱזַק לֵב-פַּרְעֹה וְלֹא-שָׁמַע אֲלֵהֶם כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה
And the learned men of Egypt did the same with their secret arts; and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not accept from them — as God had said.

וַיִּפֶן פַּרְעֹה וַיָּבֹא אֶל-בֵּיתוֹ וְלֹא-שָׁת לִבּוֹ גַּם-לָזֹאת

Then Pharaoh turned away and entered his house, and did not set his mind to this either.
- Shemot 7:24
וַיַּחְפְּרוּ כָל-מִצְרַיִם סְבִיבֹת הַיְאֹר מַיִם לִשְׁתּוֹת כִּי לֹא יָכְלוּ לִשְׁתֹּת מִמֵּימֵי הַיְאֹר
. . .
And all the Egyptians dug wells around the Nile to drink from them, since they could not bear to drink from the water of the Nile.

וַיִּמָּלֵא שִׁבְעַת יָמִים אַחֲרֵי הַכּוֹת-יְהוָה אֶת-הַיְאֹר

And when seven days had been completed after God had struck the Nile — thereafter:

וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-מֹשֶׁה בֹּא אֶל-פַּרְעֹה וְאָמַרְתָּ אֵלָיו כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה שַׁלַּח אֶת-עַמִּי וְיַעַבְדֻנִי
. . . .
God said to Moses: 'Go in to Pharaoh and say to him: Thus says God — release my people, that they may serve me.'
- Shemot 7:27
וְאִם-מָאֵן אַתָּה לְשַׁלֵּחַ הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי נֹגֵף אֶת-כָּל-גְּבוּלְךָ--בַּצְפַרְדְּעִים
.
'And if you refuse to release them — behold, I am about to strike your territory with frogs.'
- Shemot 7:28
וְשָׁרַץ הַיְאֹר צְפַרְדְּעִים וְעָלוּ וּבָאוּ בְּבֵיתֶךָ וּבַחֲדַר מִשְׁכָּבְךָ וְעַל-מִטָּתֶךָ וּבְבֵית עֲבָדֶיךָ וּבְעַמֶּךָ וּבְתַנּוּרֶיךָ וּבְמִשְׁאֲרוֹתֶיךָ
. . .
'And the frogs shall move forth from the Nile, and shall ascend and enter into your house, and into the inner chamber of your bed and upon your bed, and into your ovens and your kneading-troughs.'
- Shemot 7:29
וּבְכָה וּבְעַמְּךָ וּבְכָל-עֲבָדֶיךָ--יַעֲלוּ הַצְפַרְדְּעִים
.
'And upon your person and upon the person of your people and your officers — the frogs shall ascend.'
